It has now been 25 years since our nation experienced an unimaginable tragedy that forever changed the world. We will never forget the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless ordinary people who showed extraordinary courage and compassion on September 11, 2001.
“Never forget” should mean more than remembering a date. It means carrying forward the compassion, resilience, and sense of community that so many Americans showed one another in the face of tragedy. It also means rejecting the hate and political violence that seeks to divide us.
Twenty-five years later, we must recommit ourselves to building a country where our differences never become an excuse to stop seeing each other as human beings.

Historic Session at Congress Hall
On Wednesday, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives convened a special session at Congress Hall in Philadelphia to commemorate 250 years of our nation. It was especially exciting for me, as I was able to experience it alongside Sydney Mathis, a senior at North Hills High School, who joined me for the day.
Sydney is planning to study political science after graduation, so it was amazing to share this piece of Pennsylvania and American history with a young leader who’s already thinking about how they can help shape our democracy’s future.
