HARRISBURG, Jan. 7 – State Rep. John Inglis took the oath of office today at the state Capitol, officially beginning his first term representing the 38th Legislative District in Allegheny County.
Inglis said his top priorities as a legislator include funding public schools, expanding mental health supports and other resources for students, supporting first responders and veterans, and protecting workers’ rights.
“As a lifelong resident of Allegheny County, I’m honored have the opportunity to create better lives for the individuals and families I represent,” said Inglis, D-Allegheny. “After working in a public school as both a teacher and a counselor for over a decade, I’m excited to be positioned to improve our education system from a different angle.
“I’ve experienced firsthand the bottlenecks that prevent a school district from providing the absolute best opportunities for their students. That experience will allow me to share a unique and necessary perspective in discussions around public education funding.”
State Supreme Court Chief Justice Debra Todd administered the oath of office. Inglis was among five Democratic lawmakers who took the oath for the first time.
The 2025-26 legislative session marks the 209th session of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
