Boyd announces $1M state grant for Clifton Heights Middle School

HARRISBURG, Nov. 1 – State Rep. Heather Boyd today announced the state is providing $1 million in funding for Clifton Heights Middle School.

The funding, provided through the state’s Redevelopment Capital Assistance Program, will help the district construct its new 170,000 square-foot middle school for 800 students in grades 6-8 and reimagine an existing 14-acre community park as a dynamic platform of education and public engagement.

Planned amenities include a dedicated parking lot, full-size competition football field, baseball field, little league field, softball field, playground and walking trail along the perimeter. The athletic components will be available to students, neighbors and local recreation and youth programs such as the Clifton Heights PAL (Police Activities League) and Clifton Heights Boys Club.

“I’m happy to announce this state-funding award, which will help control costs for the school district and local taxpayers,” Boyd said. “Congratulations to Upper Darby School District on their acquisition of these funds. Our students will certainly benefit the most from the district’s vision.

“As we anticipate this wonderful new development, please know that my office can help entities in our community apply for a variety of state grant programs. My door is always open.”

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is a Pennsylvania grant program for the design, acquisition, and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects have a regional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity.  RACP projects are state-funded projects that cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
