Dear Neighbor,

As we approach the holiday season, I wanted to take a moment to greet both our longtime email subscribers as well as our new ones.

We’ve recently switched to a new email program, and for those who have received our emails in the past, much of what you see will look familiar. For those new to our updates, welcome! I send periodic emails to keep residents informed about local and state issues that impact our communities. If you would like to unsubscribe, please click here.

If you ever need assistance or have questions regarding state or local issues, please don't hesitate to reach out. You can contact my office by email at RepBoyd@pahouse.net, call us at (484) 200-8262, or visit us at 6 South Springfield Road, Unit A, Clifton Heights, PA 19018-2234.

Thank you for attending my Veterans Lunch

Thank you to everyone who attended this week’s Veterans Lunch. Your presence is a testament to the strength, courage and sacrifice you have demonstrated in service to our country. It was a pleasure and honor to acknowledge the countless ways your dedication has shaped the freedoms we enjoy every day. Whether in times of conflict or peace, your commitment has been a beacon of hope and security for all of us, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

Your stories, experiences and ongoing service inspire us all to strive for greater unity and purpose. Thank you for honoring us with your presence and allowing us the privilege of expressing our heartfelt thanks.

Veterans Day parades liven up our streets

It was a tremendous honor to march in the Veterans Day Parade in Media this year!

Veterans Day and every day, we recognize the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of our veterans. These brave men and women have defended our country, upheld our freedoms, and shown us the meaning of true service. They are our family members, friends, neighbors, and community leaders, each with their own story of resilience and commitment.

Calling all veterans of the Battle of the Bulge

Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, their families, friends and acquaintances are needed to respond to a survey, as we approach the battle’s 80th anniversary in December 2024.

Please consider participating in this survey to help commemorate the heroism and sacrifice of the 28th Infantry Division of the PA Army National Guard during the Battle.

The survey requests history and memories about the Battle. If you, a family member, or an acquaintance served during the Battle, please respond with details, locations, photos, and stories.

Thank you so much for helping to preserve this valued history in our Commonwealth!

It’s National Apprenticeship Week

National Apprenticeship Week runs through Nov. 23. It’s a perfect opportunity to spotlight how apprenticeships can bridge the gap between the skills Service members gain during their military careers and the technical expertise needed for civilian occupations.

In Pennsylvania, there are over 1,550 registered apprenticeship programs in diverse fields, including information technology, health care, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, and the building trades. These opportunities are key to addressing workforce shortages and empowering veterans.

I encourage veterans in our community explore these programs:

• Visit the PA CareerLink Registered Apprenticeship website: https://www.pacareerlink.pa.gov/jponline/apprenticeships

• Download the Department of Labor Apprenticeship for Veterans quick guide: https://www.pacareerlink.pa.gov/jponline/apprenticeships

• Contact Jeanette Coleman, Job Seeker Liaison with the PA Department of Labor and Industry’s Apprenticeship and Training Office at jeancoleman@pa.gov or (717) 836-3050

State Grants List Updated

Are you a Pennsylvania citizen or organization seeking funding from the state? Here are multiple state grant programs that are open for application. Please contact my office if you have questions.

Pennsylvania also launched a new resource on PA.gov that makes it easier for residents, businesses, non-profits, schools, and local governments to find and apply to grant programs from state agencies.

You can use the new tool and search all grant opportunities here.
