NEWTOWN SQUARE, Aug. 19 – State Rep. Lisa Borowski announced today that a transportation project in the 168th Legislative District has been selected by PennDOT for state grant funding through the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF).
Radnor Township will receive $403,127 to make signal modernization and safety improvements on Clyde Road and Sproul Road. The project will install new technology for vehicle detection that allows for emergency preemption actions to avoid accidents. It will also replace the mast arms and add LED indicator lights, a new signal controller and a battery backup system.
To make the intersection safer and more accessible for pedestrians, the township will install ADA-compliant ramps with pushbuttons and pedestrian countdown timers.
"When I represented Radnor's 4th Ward as a commissioner this project was top of mind for the residents in the area,” Borowski said. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring it full circle with funds to move it forward. This project represents a huge improvement for the area and will enhance the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers at this busy intersection."
Additionally, Rose Tree Media School District will receive $2,516,291 to realign Rose Tree Road on an accelerated timeline to ensure construction is complete before the proposed new K-1st Grade School along the road would open.
