Borowski takes oath of office to begin 2nd term as state legislator

HARRISBURG, Jan. 8 – State Rep. Lisa Borowski took the oath of office on Tuesday at the state Capitol to begin her second term representing Pennsylvania’s 168th Legislative District.

Borowski said she is eagerly working on her proposals for the 2025-26 legislative session and will continue to focus on strengthening our public schools, keeping resources flowing to first responders, bringing new dollars home to fund district projects, ending the proliferation of “medical deserts” as the result of health system mergers, and protecting consumers from unscrupulous subscription service practices.

“I’m here to make sure residents’ voices are heard in Harrisburg and to advocate for legislation that would improve life for people in Delco and across the commonwealth,” Borowski said. “That means working to ensure public schools are funded adequately and that people can access what they need to live healthy and productive lives, from medical services to affordable housing and utilities.”

Borowski has also taken the first steps to reintroduce her measures to help achieve safety and peace of mind for victims of domestic violence. Her bills to waive fees for replacement state documents and to allow victims to get out of a joint housing lease with their abuser without financial penalty passed the House last year, but the Senate neglected to consider either bill.

“We’ve seen a steady increase in the rate of domestic violence since 2020, while funding for organizations that help survivors continues to get cut from state and local budgets. The need to turn this situation around is urgent, and I’m resolved to find solutions during the new session – I encourage my colleagues to join me,” she said.

During the 2023-24 term, Borowski helped bring more than $18 million back to the district for local projects. She prime-sponsored 16 bills – including H.B. 1131, which became Act 50 of 2023-24 and allows the state to remove duplicative health centers – and co-sponsored 370 bills, 19 of which were signed into law.

Borowski was elected by her peers to serve as Vice Chair of the Southeast Delegation and co-chair of the Firefighters & EMS Caucus, and will serve on the following standing House committees this session:

  • Aging & Older Adult Services
  • Consumer Protection & Utilities
  • Communications & Technology
  • Health
  • Local Government
  • Veterans' Affairs & Emergency Preparedness

Borowski’s office assisted district residents with more than 11,543 state-related services in the 2023-24 legislative session. She encourages residents needing help to stop by her office at 24 S. Newtown Street Rd. in Newtown Square, call (484) 427-2884, or e-mail RepBorowski@pahouse.net.
