Sen. Kearney, Rep. Zabel announce they will co-host Senior Expo Sept. 30 in Drexel Hill
DREXEL HILL, Sept. 13 – In an effort to notify seniors about valuable programs, services and agencies, state Rep. Mike Zabel, D-Delaware, announced he will co-host a Senior Expo later this month with state Sen. Tim Kearney, D-Delaware/Chester.
The Senior Expo will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 30 at the Drexelbrook Catering and Special Event Center, located at 4700 Drexelbrook Dr., Drexel Hill.
The event is free and open to all seniors and their families and caretakers. Free refreshments and continental breakfast will be provided.
“Not everyone knows about all the resources and services in our area that can be money-savers and beneficial to seniors,” Zabel said. “Senator Kearney and I wanted to organize one event to showcase several of the programs offered in our region and across the state specifically designed for seniors.”
Masks will be required to protect the well-being of the public.
“Our Senior Expo is one of my favorite events,” Kearney said. “It gives us a chance to hear from our seniors about what’s important to them and how we can make Delco a great place to grow older in the community together.”
The Senior Expo will have flu shots available for seniors. Members of the District Attorney’s Office will be on hand with the Drug Take Back van to safely collect and dispose of prescription drugs. Information will be available on the state’s Unclaimed Property, and staff will be available to talk about assistance with utilities. There also will be legal assistance available for seniors, staff ready to help with Medicare and health insurance questions, information on home care services, information on prescription assistance, details about SEPTA Key Senior ID cards and a variety of other services.
If anyone needs transportation to the Senior Expo, Community Transit has suggested seniors contact them directly to arrange a ride at 610-490-3960.
Kearney’s and Zabel’s offices are partnering with Senior Community Services for the event and the sponsors as of this date are Amicam Insurance Group, Independence Blue Cross (IBX), Crozer Health, Sun East Federal Credit Union, and Touching Hearts at Home.
