Zabel announces $33K grant for alcohol education program for high school students
DREXEL HILL, Sept. 9 – State Rep. Mike Zabel, D-Delaware, today announced Upper Darby Township Police Department has been approved for a state grant to fund alcohol education programs for high school students.
“These programs educate our students on the dangers and consequences of underage drinking and impaired driving as well as increasing the department’s community outreach,” Zabel said.
Upper Darby Township Police Department will receive $33,389 to be spent on enforcement patrol, educational programs for high school students, impaired driving simulation, training and community outreach.
The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board approved the grant at a meeting earlier this month as part of its Reducing Underage and Dangerous Drinking Grant Awards. The maximum amount awarded for each two-year grant is $40,000.
