Zabel appointed to House Judiciary, Commerce, Environmental Resources and Energy committees

HARRISBURG, Jan. 28 – State Rep. Mike Zabel today announced that he was appointed to three House committees, including the powerful Judiciary Committee.

Zabel also was appointed to serve on the Commerce Committee and the Environmental Resources and Energy Committee.

“I am honored to be placed on the Judiciary, Commerce, and ERE committees. My constituents elected me to ensure that their neighborhoods are safe, the justice system fair to all, the environment protected, and the economy strong with good jobs,” said Zabel, D-Delaware. “I will reach across the aisle to ensure that the needs of my community are met.”

The Judiciary Committee reviews bills related to law enforcement and corrections, and the committee provides oversight for a number of state agencies, including the Pennsylvania State Police, Department of Corrections, and the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

The Commerce Committee reviews legislation involving the banking and financial services industries. It has oversight of the Department of Banking, Department of Community and Economic Development, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, the Securities Commission, and the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority.

The Environmental Resources and Energy Committee works with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to establish regulations on environmental issues, including air and water quality, and waste management.

Zabel took office Jan. 1 to represent the 163rd Legislative District, serving part of Delaware County.
