Zabel begins first term representing 163rd Legislative District

HARRISBURG, Jan. 1 – Calling it a tremendous honor, state Rep. Mike Zabel was sworn in during a Capitol ceremony today to represent the 163rd Legislative District in Delaware County.

Formerly an assistant district attorney and a teacher at the middle school, high school and college levels, Zabel also currently serves as an attorney in private practice.

“As a lifelong resident of Delaware County, I am looking forward to fighting for what’s best for the residents of the 163rd: strong schools, good jobs, and a fair economy,” he said.

Zabel’s legislative concerns in the next session include fair funding for William Penn, Haverford and Upper Darby school districts, addressing the opioid crisis as a critical public health issue, enacting tax reform and establishing economic policies that put working families ahead of big business, and passing laws that meaningfully address gun violence in Pennsylvania.

His efforts blend with the broader Plan for PA, which seeks to build a stronger economy for working families instead of serving special interests.

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives swearing-in corresponds with the first Tuesday in January every two years. This year is Pennsylvania’s 203rd legislative session.
