Reducing our e-waste and more

Dear Neighbor,

Last week, I joined some of my colleagues to unveil a package of bills called Zero Waste PA, aimed at addressing single-use plastics, litter, and the environmental harms of being a “throwaway” society. My legislation addresses the growing electronic waste problems in the commonwealth by updating our outdated laws that deal with it and using proven best practices from other states to make Pennsylvania a leader. I thank my colleagues for their support and for their innovative ideas to help reduce our environmental impact.

Click the video below for more information and visit my website for a full list of bills proposed.

Visit to the Sonshine Academy

On Friday, I visited the Sonshine Christian Academy for their first ever Trike-A-Thon to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and they raised over $5,456. Congratulations to the organizers for a successful event!

Working for you on the Judiciary Committee

I’m proud to announce my recent appointment to the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime and Corrections. Issues related to crime, corrections and criminal justice reform are wide ranging and I am looking forward to working with other members on this subcommittee to take a comprehensive look at these issues and work together for the benefit of all Pennsylvanians.

As a voting member of the Judiciary Committee, I am also proud to tell you that the Judiciary Committee voted on and approved two bills, HB 962 and 963, which would extend the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse, and provide a two-year window for victims to seek redress for previously barred claims. We are one step closer to justice for victims of child sexual abuse. I will keep you updated as this legislation progresses.

Last week (April 8-12, 2019) was recognized as the “Week of the Young Child” in PA. This week is to focus on the needs of our youngest children and thank the adults who work tirelessly to support them.
