Williams: More than $2.5 million secured for local community improvement projects

HARRISBURG, Sept. 15 – State Rep. Dan Williams announced today that agencies in his Pennsylvania House legislative district received more than $2.5 million in new grant funding.

The funds were awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority via the Local Share Account, which distributes money from gaming revenues to counties to support projects in the public interest.

In the 74th Legislative District, Williams supported state funding for the following projects:

$559,000 to Honey Brook Borough, distributed among three projects:
- $300,000 to complete restorations along Maple Street, including milling, overlaying and base repair of approximately 1,435 square feet of roadway.
- $162,000 to rehabilitate a portion of Water Street from the intersection of Water and Maple streets to the intersection of Water and Walnut streets.
- $97,000 to repair and rehabilitate the Shirktown Road Water Tank.
$400,000 to Chester County to purchase 911 call center software and equipment for Chester County.
$340,000 to Coatesville City, distributed among two projects:
- $240,000 to the Washington Hose Co. No. 1 for the purchase of an ambulance.
- $100,000 to Coatesville City’s Fire Department toward the purchase of a fire engine and ladder truck.
$200,000 to the Keystone Valley Fire Department toward the purchase of a new fire engine for use in the region.
$200,000 to Valley Township to assist in the reconstruction of a section of Wagontown Road between Manor Road and East Glencrest Road that collapsed in 2014.
$200,000 to Sadsbury Township toward construction of a new bridge to replace the failing Compass Road Bridge.
$100,000 to Minquas Fire Co. #2 for the purchase of cardiac monitor/defibrillator units to be used in the region.
$100,000 to Parkesburg Borough toward the purchase and construction of a new public works garage. The existing sheds and other blighted structures at the project site will be demolished to make way for a new Public Works Facility.
$100,000 to Elverson-Honey Brook Area EMS toward the purchase of two quick-response vehicles for use in Honey Brook Township and the surrounding area.
$65,000 to Valley Township for the purchase and upfitting of a police vehicle designed for incident command operations in the township.
$50,000 to West Caln Township to assist with the purchase and upfitting of a heavy-duty dump truck for use by the township.

“These investments are about making sure our communities have the resources they need to keep residents safe,” said Williams. “This funding will have a direct impact on the quality of life in our communities, from repairing roads and replacing a bridge to equipping our first responders and upgrading emergency communications. I’m proud to support these projects and grateful to the Commonwealth Financing Authority for recognizing the importance of investing in the 74th District.”
