Downingtown, Dec. 28 – State Reps. Dan Williams, Danielle Friel Otten, Christina Sappey and Tim Hennessey, all of Chester County, are happy to present a citation to the Downingtown Marching Band for their invitation to the Rose Parade.
The Downingtown Blue and Gold Marching Band has been selected to march in the 133rd Rose Parade on January 1, 2022. The band is made up of students from both Downingtown East and Downingtown West high school bands. This is the third time Downingtown Area School District has participated in the Rose Parade.
“The Downingtown Blue and Gold Marching Band have done us proud once again!” Williams said. “This band’s talents have been recognized as top caliber for the third time by being selected to perform at the Rose Bowl. Most of all, it is the band’s dedication to providing community service to the people of Downingtown that really makes them stand out in terms of talent and character. Well done, Downingtown Blue and Gold Marching Band!”
“Downingtown’s Blue and Gold Marching Band has worked so hard for this opportunity, through the most difficult school years in anyone’s memory,” said Otten. "The students’ dedication to both music and community service is admirable and has been an inspiration to those around them. My staff and I wish the band the very best of luck and safe travels to the Rose Parade – we are all so proud of you!”
“Congratulations to these talented musicians and instructors on their invitation to the Rose Parade,” Sappey said. “As a former band mom in Downingtown, I have seen the hard work and dedication of these performers firsthand. I am proud to have such an impressive group of young people representing our region in Pasadena. Best of luck to the Blue and Gold Marching band!”
“What a tremendous accomplishment to be selected to march in such a prestigious nationwide event! The Downingtown High School Marching band will give us all an extra reason to be proud when we see them in the Rose Parade!” said Hennessey.
Thousands of high schools applied to participate in the Rose Parade and only 12 bands were selected. More information about the Downingtown Blue and Gold Marching Band’s trip to the Rose Parade can be found on the band’s website, https://www.dasd.org/dasdgoesrose.
