Waxman: More than $1.3 million in funding awarded to local arts organizations

HARRISBURG, Dec. 19 – State Rep. Ben Waxman, D-Phila., today announced more than $1.3 million in state grants that will support local arts organizations across the 182nd Legislative District.

The following grants were awarded by the Commonwealth Finance Authority through the COVID-19 ARPA PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program:

Association for Public Art

  • $50,345 to The Association for Public Art for new programs and marketing for the Arts Organization located in Philadelphia.

Astral Artists Inc.

  • $29,404 to Astral Artists, Inc. to cover operating costs for the Performing Arts Organization located in Philadelphia.

Center for Emerging Visual Artists LTD

  • $17,034 to Center for Emerging Visual Artists LTD for operating expenses for the Arts Organization located in Philadelphia.

Choral Arts Philadelphia

  • $10,000 to Choral Arts Philadelphia to offset lost revenue for the Performing Arts Organization located.

College of Physicians of Philadelphia

  • $95,000 to College of Physicians of Philadelphia to offset lost revenue for the History Museum

Concerto Soloists Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia

  • $30,490 to Concerto Soloists Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia to offset lost revenue for the Orchestra.

CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia

  • $29,038 to CultureWorks, Greater Philadelphia to for operating expenses and new program development and marketing for the Culture Organization.

Curtis Institute of Music

  • 95,000 to Curtis Institute of Music to offset lost revenue for the Arts Organization.

Encore Series Inc. dba The Philly Pops

  • $95,000 to Encore Series to offset operating costs for the Orchestra.

First Person Arts

  • $28,518 to First Person Arts for operating expenses for the Arts Organization.

Historical Society of Pennsylvania

  • $67,548 to Historical Society of Pennsylvania for operating expenses for the Culture Organization.

  • $30,517 to InLiquid.com Inc. for operating costs for the Arts Organization.

InterAct Inc.

  • $30,830 to InterAct, Inc. to for operating expenses for the Performing Arts Organization.

Kimmel Center Inc.

  • $95,000 to Kimmel Center Inc. to offset lost revenue for the Performing Arts Organization.

Musicopia Inc.

  • $37,650 to Musicopia Inc. for operating costs for the Arts Organization.

Opera Philadelphia

  • $95,000 to Opera Philadelphia for operating expenses for the Arts Organization.

Pennsylvania Academy of The Fine Arts

  • $95,000 Pennsylvania Academy of The Fine Arts to Program to fund operating costs for the Art Museum.

Philadelphia Film Society

  • 91,188 to Philadelphia Film Society for operating expenses for the Arts Organization.

Philadelphia Gay Mens Chorus

  • $16,682 to offset operating expenses for the Performing Arts Organization.

Philadelphia Sketch Club

  • $10,000 to Philadelphia Sketch Club to offset lost revenue for the Arts Organization.

Philadelphia Theatre Co.

  • $80,613 to Philadelphia Theatre Company for operating expenses for the Performing Arts Organization.

PlayPenn Inc.

  • $23,129 to PlayPenn Inc. for operating expenses for the Arts Organization.

Rosenbach Museum and Library

  • $44,965 to Rosenbach Museum and Library to establish new programs and marketing for the General Museum.

South Asian American Digital Archive

  • $21,237 to South Asian American Digital Archive to establish new programs and marketing for the Culture Organization.

Tempesta di Mare Inc.

  • $22,908 to Tempesta di Mare, Inc. for operating expenses for the Arts Organization.

The Print Center

  • $27,897 to The Print Center for operating expenses for the Arts Organization.

The Wilma Theater

  • $90,594 to The Wilma Theater to offset lost revenue and for operating and marketing expenses for the Arts Organization.

World Poetry Inc dba American Poetry Review

  • $10,734 to World Poetry Inc. dba American Poetry Review to establish a marketing campaign for the Arts Organization

The COVID-19 ARPA PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program was created to provide grants to nonprofit arts and culture organizations, local arts and culture districts and arts and culture professionals located in the Commonwealth to ensure the stability and recovery of the Commonwealth’s arts and culture sector from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CFA is an independent agency of the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, established in 2004 to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages.
