Warren announces $7,020 grant for Bucks County Community College

HARRISBURG, June 30 – Noting the need to support postsecondary and higher education faculty during the pandemic, Rep. Perry Warren, D-Bucks, announced Bucks County Community College has been awarded a $7,020 grant through the first round of the Pennsylvania Grants for Open and Affordable Learning.

“The pandemic has transformed everyone’s lives, and educators are no different – working to find ways to adapt while safely teaching and instructing their students in spite of the limitations we faced during the last year,” Warren said. “It’s rewarding to see Bucks County Community College receive the funding it needs for the work it has accomplished in the wake of a challenging year for teachers, students, staff and parents.”

Thirty projects received an average of $5,859 each in funding as part of the first round of grant distributions, with $175,764 being awarded in total.

The money for the grants came from the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund, established through the federal CARES Act of 2020 and through the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Office of Commonwealth Libraries.

PA GOAL provides grants and stipends to encourage and support faculty in creating, adapting and adopting Open Educational Resources and other zero-cost learning materials for students.

Applications for the second round of PA GOAL funding will be accepted through July 6.
