Khan touts over $1.5 million in state funding for local projects

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 23 – Today, state Rep. Tarik Khan, D-Phila., announced state funding worth more than $1.58 million from the Pennsylvania Local Share Account has been awarded for three projects in his district.

The projects receiving funding include:

$247,781 awarded to Manayunk Special Services District to restore the railroad tie wall on the Manayunk Towpath section of the Schuylkill River near Lock Street.

$665,263 awarded to PIDC Financing Corp. on behalf of the Roxborough Home for Women for renovations to its personal care home for low-income women.  

$670,500 awarded to PIDC Financing Corp. on behalf of Temple Health-Chestnut Hill Hospital for renovation of three elevators in the hospital.

“I’m really proud to have helped bring over $1.5 million of our tax dollars back home for meaningful projects in our neighborhood,” Khan said. “From preserving vital recreation access in Manayunk to improving living conditions for residents at Roxborough Home for Women to enhancing safety and accessibility for patients and staff at Chestnut Hill Hospital, these investments are huge wins for our community!”

The Statewide Local Share Account funding comes from the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, which provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support projects in the public interest in Pennsylvania.
