Sixth annual Greene County Senior Fair on tap Oct. 6 at fairgrounds

CARMICHAELS, Sept. 26 – State Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Greene/Fayette/Washington, today said the sixth annual Greene County Senior Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at the Greene County Fairgrounds near Waynesburg.

“The Senior Fair provides a one-stop shop for seniors to access helpful resources in their community,” Snyder said. “This is one of the best-attended events that my office helps to host, and I always look forward to speaking with the seniors who attend.”

Attendees will be able to receive a free flu shot provided by Cornerstone Care by presenting their Medicare card. Health screenings also will be available.

Snyder said the Senior Fair enables people to get vaccinations before flu season hits full stride, and provides fuller access to the government programs and services.

Sponsored by Snyder, Greene County Commissioners Blair Zimmerman, Dave Coder and Archie Trader, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging and state Sen. Camera Bartolotta, the free Senior Fair features representatives from state, local and county agencies and vendors who provide services to seniors.

The event features:

  • Information about the state Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, PACE and PACENET prescription-drug plans, heating assistance and other state programs;

  • Lunch prepared by Greene County Career and Technology Center students and sponsored by a local company;

  • Door prize drawings with registration; and

  • A grand door prize – attendance required -- of a flat-screen television, donated by a local business.

More information is available by calling Snyder’s Carmichaels office at 724-966-8953.
