Snyder: 13 state programs open for funding applications

Economic, community development financing available to businesses, local governments, nonprofits

HARRISBURG, April 16 – State Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Greene/Fayette/Washington, today said the state Department of Community and Economic Development is featuring 13 programs now accepting funding applications from businesses, local governments and nonprofits.

“The funding opportunities run the gamut from business expansions to flood mitigation and parks and recreational trails,” Snyder said. “The programs’ funding is offered through the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which is responsible for investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.”

Programs now accepting applications are:

• Abandoned Mine Drainage Abatement and Treatment;
• Alternative and Clean Energy;
• Business in Our Sites; 
• Baseline Water Quality Data;
• Building PA;
• Flood Mitigation;
• Greenways, Trails and Recreation;
• High Performance Building;
• Multimodal Transportation Fund;
• Orphan or Abandoned Well Plugging;
• Renewable Energy;
• Sewage Facilities; and
• Watershed Restoration Protection.

“The programs feature different application deadlines and criteria, but most are funded through Act 13, Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale law,” Snyder said. “June 30 is a key deadline for many of the programs, with action on applications expected in September by the financing authority.”
