Snyder: Fiscal Code bill includes funds to protect property owners from higher taxes

CARMICHAELS, May 29 – State Rep. Pam Snyder voted in favor of a state Fiscal Code measure that would direct federal funds to protect property owners and ensure vital funding for school districts.

Snyder, D-Greene/Fayette/Washington, said with casinos being closed, there has been a $300 million loss of revenue for homestead exemption funds that would normally be distributed to school districts.

“I made sure that specific wording was included in House Bill 1083 that would use funds from the federal CARES act to provide that funding to school districts to ensure property owners wouldn’t face an enormous tax hike,” Snyder said. “This move protects school districts, property owners and our school students. It’s a win/win for everyone.”

House Bill 1083 was signed into law by the governor today.
