Snyder: Southeastern Greene School District awarded state education grant to assist with resources, equipment to ensure continuity

WAYNESBURG, April 22 – A $37,534 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education has been awarded to the Southeastern Greene School District to ensure students receive access to educational materials and related resources while schools are currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, state Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Greene/Fayette/Washington, announced.

Snyder said the focus of the Continuing of Education Equity Grant for the 2019-20 academic year is to help districts assist students who are unable to attend school with the resources they need to continue their education.

“Our schools districts have faced numerous challenges following the statewide shutdown and they’ve had to quickly create and implement innovative ways to keep their students engaged in the learning process,” Snyder said. “This grant will help them with the resources they need, whether it’s purchasing tablets, internet hot spots or other materials for students.”

Snyder noted that school districts with the highest percentage of students lacking access to these resources were given priority in receiving these state grants.
