African-American Health Fair

–State Rep. Ismail Smith-Wade-El, D-Lancaster, will hold an African-American Health Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 6 at Thaddeus Stevens College’s Multipurpose Activity Center, 750 E. King St., Lancaster 17602.  

Members of the Pennsylvania House Black Maternal Health Caucus will be giving statements on African-American maternal mortality-related issues.

The schedule for the day’s events is as follows:

  • 11:30 a.m.:      Healthy Cooking Demonstration with Chef Laurie Myers (free samples

provided!)

  • 12 p.m.            Welcome by Rep. Smith-Wade-El and panel discussion on Black maternal

health with members of the Pennsylvania Black Maternal Health Caucus and Patients R Waiting.

  • 12:30 p.m.:      McCaskey Mass Destruction Step Team Performance.
  • 1 p.m.:             Free Fitness Instruction with At Her Core Fitness.
  • 2:30 p.m.:        Free Fitness Instruction with At Her Core Fitness.

Information will be given on: tobacco cessation, lung cancer screenings, reproductive health services, domestic violence services, 2-1-1, voter registration, and children’s recreation activities.

Free radon kits will also be available courtesy of the American Lung Association, as well as gun safety kits from the state police.
