Siegel: $700,000 for streetscape and renovation projects

HARRISBURG, Feb. 25 – State Rep. Josh Siegel said $700,000 in grants were awarded Monday by the Commonwealth Financing Authority for two projects in his community.

Each project received $350,000 for the respective work that will be done on a streetscape project along Hamilton Street and renovation to the Allentown Transportation Center.

“These projects look to make a renovation and complete a project in the city of Allentown,” Siegel said. “Both the streetscape project along Hamilton Street and the renovation of an interior fit-out of the Allentown Transportation Center will be funded with this grant money. Streetscape projects are always good for the continued improvement of our road and street infrastructure and the fit-out renovation will continue to improve the Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority in ensuring that those who live in Northeastern Pennsylvania have access to reliable transportation.”

Both grants come from the Multimodal Transportation Fund through the CFA. The MTF provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth.

Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
