Rep. Josh Siegel July 2, 2024 | 10:14 AM
HARRISBURG, July 2 – State Rep. Josh Siegel has introduced a package of bills in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to protect individuals seeking gender-affirming care, as well as to prevent any penalties against licensed prescribers in the commonwealth.
Siegel has long been a LGBT+ advocate, citing his own family’s experience being part of the community. His bills were introduced at the end of June -- the month celebrated as Pride Month in Pennsylvania and the United States.
“While 25 states have banned gender-affirming care, my bills have been created to ensure that this vital care will continue to be available here in the commonwealth,” said Siegel. “We know that Trans individuals are more likely to suffer from depression and are at a higher risk of suicide than the general population. Ensuring people can live their lives openly as who they are is an essential freedom.”
House Bills 2446 and 2447 are currently in committee awaiting votes.
