Rep. Josh Siegel January 26, 2024 | 4:15 PM
HARRISBURG, Jan. 26 – State Rep. Josh Siegel released a statement today following the announcement of Gov. Josh Shapiro’s plan for higher education:
“With many of our youth graduating high school and moving on to higher education, it is imperative that we think of them as we address tuition costs and other costs that come with pursuing college,” said Siegel. “Gov. Shapiro wants students of families making $70,000 or less to have their tuition capped at $1,000 per semester. This would help set up the future generations to have the skills they need to lead us when we can no longer lead them.
“While making these changes, we need to honor and stand by our commitments to faculty, coaches and staff that belong to unions. It is important to understand that the system only works if we invest in the people who work for it.
“I look forward to working with Gov. Shapiro and his office on bringing affordable higher education to Pennsylvania after decades of divestment and skyrocketing costs and debt for students. We have a great opportunity here to shift gears from the past precedent and make leading for the future generations easier.”
