Funds to benefit hospitals, infrastructure, recreation

PAOLI, Dec. 18 – State Rep. Melissa Shusterman, D-Chester, is proud to announce that $1.35 million has been awarded to multiple projects across her legislative district.

All projects have been funded by the statewide Local Share Account Program, which was established as an amendment to the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act to allow for the distribution of gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support projects in the public interest within the Commonwealth.

The grants have been awarded to the following areas:

  • Healthcare
    • $100,000 to Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital for ceiling-mounted patient lifts.
  • Infrastructure
    • $350,000 to Schuylkill Township for necessary renovations to its municipal complex.
    • $200,000 to Royer-Greaves School for the Blind for sustainable energy improvements.
    • $200,000 to the Valley Forge Sewer Authority to secure pump replacements for the sewer system in Schuylkill Township.
    • $150,000 to Willistown Township to make needed replacements to the sewer system.
  • Recreation
    • $350,000 to Tredyffrin Township for ADA improvements and other additions to Friendship Park.

"I’m proud to have been able to bring money back to my district,” Shusterman said. “We’re thankful to live in a Commonwealth that continues to invest in our communities. Whether it’s urgent infrastructure needs, healthcare improvements or updates to our beautiful parks, our economy works for the people who work hard to contribute to it."
