Shusterman celebrates more than $934,000 in grants to local schools

Funding goes towards School Safety and Mental Health Support

PAOLI, Jan. 14 – State Rep. Melissa Shusterman, D-Chester, is proud to announce that $934,910 has been delivered to schools in the 157th Legislative District.

Specifically, the grants will be used to support programs addressing school violence and improving school safety and security.

The awardees are as follows:

  • Chester County IU 24 - $70,000
  • Chester County Technical College High School - $70,000
  • Delaware Valley Friends School - $46,750
  • Great Valley School District - $188,649
  • The Phelps School - $48,000
  • Phoenixville Area School District - $179,183
  • Royer-Greaves School for the Blind - $70,000
  • Tredyffrin-Easttown School District - $224,828
  • Villa Maria Academy High School - $37,500

"Our students and teachers perform at their best when they feel safe in their environment," Shusterman said. "We are committed to protecting our students and supporting their mental health. This funding will provide our schools with the resources necessary for our students to learn effectively and for our teachers to teach."

Shusterman is entering her fourth consecutive term serving the people of the 157th Legislative District. She says she is looking forward to working with community organizations to secure more grants and work towards commonsense solutions.

The funds are administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s School Safety and Security Committee. These awards complete the $120 million school safety grants program package appropriated in the bipartisan 2024-25 budget.
