Shusterman announces $843,000 for multimodal transportation improvements

PAOLI, March 28 – State Rep. Melissa Shusterman, D-Chester, is proud to announce that $843,000 has been awarded to the 157th Legislative District for critical transportation projects.

The grants, provided by the Multimodal Transportation Fund from the Commonwealth Financing Authority, may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets in communities, including streetscape and lighting improvements, sidewalk and pedestrian safety enhancements, increasing connectivity and other transit-oriented development.

The funding breakdown is as follows:

  • $500,000 awarded to Easttown Township for the Village of Berwyn Pedestrian Improvements Project.
  • $343,000 awarded to PT Phoenixville LLC for the Intersection of Valley Forge Road and Whitehorse Road Redevelopment Project.

"We’re always looking for ways to make our communities more walkable and resident-friendly in the 157th Legislative District,” Shusterman said. “Thanks to this funding, the people of Easttown Township will soon be able to walk a little easier, and the people of Schuylkill Township will soon be able to drive a little easier. These small improvements will have big impacts on the safety of drivers and pedestrians in Chester County."
