KENNETT SQUARE, Oct. 16 – State Rep. Christina Sappey held her annual charitable item donation drive on Oct. 3, which received donations from local residents for the Brandywine SPCA, David’s Drive 831, Kennett Area Community Services, Toys for Tots and Green Drop.
“I am pleased once again with how our community has stepped up and given generously,” Sappey said. “These donations will help feed families, provide a child with a toy for the holidays and ensure the health of pets looking for their forever homes. To all of you who donated, your kindness will certainly go a long way. Thank you, and I hope we will be able to give even more next year.”
Green Drop reported that over 300 boxes and bags of donated goods from this donation drive will go to help those in need.
Many attendees provided items to all of the organizations on site. David’s Drive 831, a local veteran support organization, collected items for veterans receiving care at the Coatesville, Lebanon, and Southeastern Veterans Centers.
“Thanks for a safe donation drive! Everyone was happy to help, and kudos to the office of Christina Sappey,” said David Turner, founder and president of David’s Drive 831. “People seemed happy to get out and pleased to give back. The veterans we support are fortunate that the community has their backs. I'd like to pass on the appreciation from the veterans. Thank you!”
“We really enjoyed being part of Rep. Sappey’s Donation Drive. It was a great way for people to drop off all kinds of donations in one place,” said Carol Vidal, community coordinator for Kennett Area Community Services. “Once again, we are reminded of the generosity of our amazing community. Donations of non-perishables for KACS are still being accepted on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the New Garden Township Building, located at 299 Starr Road in Landenberg.”
Sappey will continue to collect new toys for Toys for Tots with a bin in her district office at Willowdale Town Center, 698 Unionville Road, Kennett Square. Donations are welcome to be dropped off until Nov. 30.
