Samuelson sponsors health care insurance counseling
Appointments available on last Friday of every month
HARRISBURG, Feb. 11 – State Rep. Steve Samuelson, D-Northampton, today said meetings with APPRISE counselors to help seniors make informed decisions on Medicare-related health care plans are available by appointment on the last Friday of every month at his Bethlehem constituent-service office.
APPRISE is a free health insurance counseling program designed to help older Pennsylvanians with Medicare. Counselors are specially trained volunteers who can answer questions about Medicare and provide senior citizens with objective, easy-to-understand information.
“Meeting with an APPRISE counselor to review one’s current health insurance can not only be helpful in making a change, but may be reassuring if no change is warranted,” Samuelson said. “An APPRISE counselor can provide the latest information on Medicare, Medicare Supplemental Insurance and Medicaid, including Part D and Medigap policies.”
Appointments are required and may be made by calling his office at 610-867-3890. The one-hour sessions are held from 9 a.m. to noon on the last Friday of the month at his office, located at 104 E. Broad St. in Bethlehem.
Samuelson said constituents with appointments should bring their Medicare cards, other insurance information such as PACE, Veterans Administration and ACCESS cards, and a list of medications with their dosages and quantities.
