Rep. Amen Brown takes oath of office to start legislative session

HARRISBURG, Jan. 7 – Continuing to serve as a powerful voice for the families and communities he represents, state Rep. Amen Brown, D-Phila., today took the oath of office in the Capitol to officially start the 2025-2026 legislative session in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Brown, whose district includes the neighborhoods of Belmont, Dunlap, Walnut Hill and parts of West Philadelphia, said he is honored to represent his neighbors in Harrisburg. Brown is a father, entrepreneur, community servant and a voice for his community.

“I am so honored and thankful to continue serving the people of our great city,” Brown said. “I know the struggle that many of our families face, and I will continue to do all that I can to help the people I represent – and work to create transformational, generational change for our communities. I am committed to making a positive impact, and I will always stay true to putting the people of the 10th Legislative District first as we restore our community, learning from the people to create my priorities and agenda.”

Brown said his priorities for the year ahead include continuing to work to create opportunities to build the community and empower residents, address criminal justice matters including continuing his efforts to reduce gun violence, create opportunities for young people and families, and support economic development initiatives that help small business and grow jobs.

A tireless advocate and community servant, Brown and his office have hosted dozens of community-focused events, including career and college fairs for young people, food giveaways, service programs and more.

His office can help people with a variety of state-related services, including home heating assistance, children’s health insurance, prescription drug, and Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program assistance.
