Brown joins Gov. Shapiro at West Philadelphia businesses

Group discussed the Historically Disadvantaged Business Program

State Rep. Amen Brown, D-Phila., joined Gov. Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania House and Senate colleagues and Della Clark, president of the Enterprise Center, in visiting small businesses in Brown’s legislative district, as a part of Shapiro’s “Main Street Matters” tour.

“I applaud Gov. Shapiro for his incredible dedication to uplifting small businesses across Pennsylvania,” Brown said. “Entire communities will continue to be uplifted for generations thanks to his investment in small businesses here in Philadelphia and throughout the commonwealth.”

Brown said he’s honored the governor chose to visit Two Locals Brewing Company in University City because the story of brothers Mengistu and Richard Koilor is inspiring for many of the youth that Brown regularly engages with.

Shapiro is calling for $25 million for the administration’s new Main Street Matters initiative which promises to promote economic growth and sustainability throughout the commonwealth.

“I throw my full support behind Gov. Shapiro’s Main Streets Matters initiative,” Brown said. “Small businesses not only provide for substantial economic growth, but also bring communities together and provide specific good and services needed in our local communities.”
