Brown’s legislation to protect law enforcement passes Pa. House

State Rep. Amen Brown said he reaffirmed his dedication to protecting law enforcement officers that keep us safe at their own risk by authoring legislation that would seek to protect these brave men and women.

His bill, H.B. 1296, is part of a package of bills that Brown wrote in honor of fallen Temple University Police Sgt. Christopher Fitzgerald, who was slain near the college while patrolling a high crime area alone.

House Bill 1296 would protect law enforcement officers by ensuring that they are accompanied by a partner when working in a critical crime area, as designated by the Pennsylvania attorney general.

“Our law enforcement officers provide a critical service throughout the commonwealth,” Brown said. “They deserve the highest level of our protection, and I will always help facilitate that protection for our men and women in blue.”

The bill passed the Pennsylvania House of Representatives today 154-49.
