Veterans deserve our never-ending gratitude, not balancing the state budget on their backs. Last week, the state House passed my legislation that would extend Pennsylvania's current property tax exemption to more veterans. It would deliver tax relief to more of those who served and sacrificed. Read more about it here.

In an effort to protect area wetlands from overdevelopment through massive data centers and the expansion of I-80, I introduced legislation to require that wetland mitigation occur within the same local watershed, ensuring that restoration efforts directly benefit the communities where impacts happen. Last week, my House colleagues and I passed important bills that will help our neighbors and improve our communities:

• We supported workers by raising the minimum wage.
• We looked after families by creating a paid Family and Medical Leave Act in PA.
• We protected consumers by requiring insurers to inform homeowner’s insurance buyers when policies don’t cover flood loss.

We also welcomed two new representatives, and we now have the most women lawmakers in the history of the state House!

Congratulations Pocono Services for Family and Children on your $44,000 check from T-Mobile! I am thrilled that the money will get the cafeteria up and running to be able to feed our little ones at the Ramsey School Head Start program.

The Housing and Community Development Committee held a roundtable in East Stroudsburg to discuss the crisis we are in for attainable housing. Working families, seniors, veterans, and so many others are priced out of a home to buy or rent.
