Energy assistance, Pike Job Fair and more!

Tackling high energy costs

Affordability is on everyone’s minds these days, and energy bills are among those that are too high here in Monroe and Pike counties. This brutal winter has only made things worse. In Harrisburg, House Democrats are leading the way to lower energy costs with legislation that would deliver real results. My colleagues and I are pushing several bills aimed at making your life better by improving our electric grid, reducing the impact of data centers, and putting people ahead of profits.

Home heating help available

I wanted to let you know that the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program application period for 2025–26 is still open. Whether you rent or own your home, you could receive a cash grant from $200 to $1,000 depending on your household size, income and type of fuel. You can find out more about eligibility requirements and documents you’ll need to apply by clicking here. Most importantly, this is a grant and does not have to be repaid.

To find out if you qualify and for any help in applying, please contact my office to make an appointment with my knowledgeable staff who can also determine if you qualify for any other state and local programs.

The deadline to apply is April 10.

Around the District

Visiting Pocono Services for Family and Children and Monroe County Headstart was such a great way to start my morning this week. I loved reading to the cutest kids and most wonderful teachers! I have been doing this program since I was the mayor and it never gets old.

I always look forward to the Monroe County Historical Association annual luncheon. Congratulations to Patricia Sayler on being named the 2026 Volunteer  Of The Year. In 2 months they will be in the long awaited, expanded, and beautiful Jacob Stroud Mansion. I am a proud 5th generation Monroe County girl.

Congratulations to the Shawnee Fire Co. celebrating 81 years of heroism in our community. Congratulations to all of the firefighters getting their service awards. Most importantly, a sincere gratitude for your volunteer fire fighting service in keeping us safe, and your family that supports your service.
