Protecting health care coverage; I-80 wetlands discovered; heating help – and more

Fighting to protect your health care

More than half a million Pennsylvanians are covered by the Affordable Care Act, which ensures they have insurance coverage for the health care they need. But the ACA is under attack in Washington, D.C. To fight back, my House colleagues and I passed a package of bills that would ensure those protections remain in place.

The legislation is now with the state Senate. Your voice can help ensure these critical bills make it to the governor’s desk. Visit this page to act.

Wetlands discovered at I-80 expansion

Check out the news story here about the latest discovery near the I-80 expansion. The environmental group that did the testing at the site has already marked it a wetland and we are waiting for their written report. We also believe there are threatened and endangered species on the site as well.

We need a safer I-80. Progress shouldn't hurt our town and our people. I'm proud to fight on your side to protect our communities.

Need heating help? Check out LIHEAP

The deadline to apply for assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program has been extended to April 18. The program can provide income-eligible households with a cash grant between $200 and $1,000 based on household size, income, and fuel type. The grant is sent directly to the utility company or fuel provider and does not need to be repaid. Crisis grants are also available. Visit this page to learn more and apply.

Around the District

Thank you to the Vietnam Veterans Pocono 678 Chapter for honoring our Vietnam veterans at Courthouse Square in Stroudsburg Borough. Honoring the veterans and remembering those who did not come home is always a moving and emotional tribute. Thank you for your service, your continued support of our men and women in uniform, now and always.

I was pleased to attend the annual Pocono Chamber of Commerce Legislative Luncheon at Camelback Resort. This is always a great opportunity to update residents and stakeholders on what we are doing in Harrisburg and beyond.
