New I-80 revelations; How to access state grants; and more!

The latest discovery about I-80

My office recently learned some extremely important information and found new data on the Stroudsburg Borough I-80 Reconstruction project.

For anyone who doesn’t know, during a dig, PennDOT had to stop on Bryant Street as they found Native American artifacts dated back to 5,000-7,000 years ago. A local homeowner was videotaping them and had to keep following up to see what was there. My office finally got an answer a week ago.

We need PennDOT to scale back this project and make it right for the county seat, the Borough of Stroudsburg.

You can read my latest emailed request to PennDOT officials here.

Around the District

A few months back, I met the amazing Luz Gonzalez. If you don’t know Luz, she is a force in this community. Luz provides Chair Yoga classes for free to anyone in the community who wishes to attend regardless of mobility or financial status. She also works with various cancer research organizations. When she mentioned to me that she needed resistance bands for her classes, I knew who to call. St. Luke’s Health Network didn’t hesitate and along with Physical Therapy at St. Luke’s, we were able to deliver donations that will help Luz continue her selfless work in the community. Thank you for all you do and thank you to both St. Luke’s Health Network and to Physical Therapy at St. Luke’s! Her classes are at the Hughes at Eastern Monroe Library on Mondays and Fridays at 2 p.m. and Middle Smithfield Township Community Center. (Check their calendar for those times.)

It was a true Winterfest in Stroudsburg. Snow and all. Thank you to all of the businesses and organizers for this awesome event.

Help me wish Miss Daisy a happy 100th birthday!
