Rep. Tarah Probst February 6, 2025 | 10:06 AM
We worked with Gov. Josh Shapiro last year to secure historic funding for Pennsylvania schools in the 2024-25 state budget and this week I was glad to hear the governor double down on that investment in his budget proposal for next year. Pennsylvania has underfunded schools for too long, especially those in Monroe and Pike counties, and these investments are the way to make things right. We also must continue to stop the cyber charter school thievery that takes hundreds of millions of tax dollars away from brick-and-mortar public schools for frivolous spending. Check out this report about those dubious expenses here.
The 2025 Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program application period is open!
PTRR has made it easier for older friends & neighbors to stay in their homes and afford groceries, medicine, and so much more. Also, don’t forget that thanks to changes made in 2023, eligibility and rebate amounts have increased many times over! Please click here to apply by June 30. My staff is available to assist with applications as well, so please don’t hesitate to stop by the district office.
Keep an eye on your mailbox to see if you’ll be receiving some unclaimed property from the state. PA Money Match is a new law I voted for last year that allows the PA Treasury to automatically return property valued at $500 or less and belonging to a single owner. People with eligible properties will receive a letter in the mail to confirm their address; then, about 45 days later, they’ll receive a check for their property.
My office will help you claim your property for FREE, give us a call or feel free to stop in and see how we can help.
The Pike County Workforce Development Agency is looking for employers to attend the upcoming WORKING PIKE Job Fair on Tuesday, April 1 from 10 am to 2 pm. See more information here.
I was proud to help celebrate all the volunteers and the person of the year at the Middle Smithfield Township banquet. Congratulations to Betty Ann Ricci, Maria Oquendo and Luz Gonzalez! Your selfless acts of kindness, heroism, and volunteerism is what makes this world a better place!
At the Capitol recently, I joined a rally to support and protect the right for every woman, and every mother, to receive the health care they need, when they need it.
