Pielli announces nearly $1.56 million in grants to Chester County

WEST CHESTER, Dec. 18 – State Rep. Chris Pielli, D-Chester, is proud to announce that nearly $1.56 million in grants have been awarded to various projects and organizations in Chester County. The funds will go to community projects concerning fire safety, sewer infrastructure, and emergency housing services.

These Commonwealth Financing Authority grants were awarded as follows:

Local Share Account Grants

  • $818,576 – West Chester Fire Department for a new fire engine.
  • $350,000 – Safe Harbor of Chester County for an expansion project which will add 20 shelter units and other services.
  • $250,000 – West Goshen Township for multiple pump replacements at its Wastewater Treatment Plant.
  • $75,000 – East Bradford Township for a new disc chipper.

Act 13 Flood Mitigation Grant

  • $65,000 – West Chester Borough for phase 2 of its brick storm sewer rehabilitation.

"One of my biggest priorities is working to make sure our district residents and organizations receive the funding that they not only deserve but need," Pielli said. “These grants will go toward vital infrastructure projects, our first responders, equipment upkeep, and for those who face challenging times and need a little help to get back on their feet.  I’m proud to work with community partners, my staff, and Sen. Carolyn Comitta to continue bringing home these and other grants for the benefit of the entire Community."

The CFA administers both Local Share Account funding and Act 13 funding. LSA funds come from the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, which allocates gaming revenues to support a variety of Pennsylvania public-interest projects.
