WEST CHESTER, Nov. 21 – State Rep. Chris Pielli, D-Chester, was proud to congratulate 24 new United States citizens on Friday, Nov. 17.
The semi-annual naturalization ceremonies were held at the Chester County Justice Center. Twenty-four people from 15 countries took the oath of citizenship and were welcomed as new U.S. citizens by the judges and public officials who attended.
The new citizens were originally from the continents of Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America. Following the swearing-in, the League of Women Voters provided an opportunity for these new citizens to register to vote.
“America is, was, and always will be a nation of immigrants,” said Pielli, as he addressed the new citizens. “I’ve always been proud of my immigrant roots. If you would see my family, you would get a snapshot of the diversity of America. Together we share the ups and downs of life, the love of each other and this great country. Today, I have an overwhelming sense of pride for you continuing this great 247-year Democratic experiment, and not only welcome you as my equals, but as my heroes. You are modern day pioneers, and you will continue to write the story of our greatness by doing your part, making us the free and unconquerable United States of America. God bless you all and God bless America.”
