Petrarca: $6.5 million in funding for Westmoreland County Community College

HARRISBURG, Sept. 17 – An estimated funding amount of $6.5 million has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to update Westmoreland County Community College’s enterprise resource planning system, state Rep. Joseph Petrarca announced today.

“This funding will be used to modernize the college’s system to improve student-driven processes and activities,” said Petrarca, D-Westmoreland/Armstrong/Indiana. “Investing in our community colleges reaps substantial benefits, not only by offering the most up-to-date resources and educational programs for students, but in providing them with the vital tools they need to succeed in the workforce.”

PDE will provide 50 percent of the annual capital expense of the project, with the remaining funds financed by local sponsorship.

Pennsylvania has 14 community colleges across the state, educating more than 300,000 students.
