Rabb announces $1.5M in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grants awarded to organizations in the 200th Legislative District

HARRISBURG, Jan. 4 – State Rep. Chris Rabb announced today that two organizations in his district received a total $1.5 million in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grants.

“I am very happy to see these grant dollars coming back to the 200th Legislative District to support such worthy organizations here and the work they are doing to improve our community,” Rabb said. “Support for civic, cultural and historic programs and improvements always provides dividends beyond the face value to the community. In the time of COVID-19, where many community organizations have really suffered, this funding is even more welcome.”

The two organizations in Rabb’s district that were awarded funding are:

  • Quintessence Theatre Group – Awarded $500,000 to repair and modernize the space to create a more comfortable and welcoming venue for the community and theatergoers, while maintaining the original art deco.
  • Grace Baptist Church – Awarded $1 million for the Grace Community Family Life Center Project toward the construction of a 15,000-square-foot, two-story building located at 25 W. Johnson St., that will feature administrative offices, a food distribution center, an after-school program classroom and a large multipurpose room for recreation, meetings, banquets and other community activities.

Rev. J. Henry Buck Jr., pastor of the Grace Baptist Church of Germantown, thanked the Wolf administration and others “who have been instrumental in bringing to fruition the vision that was cast many years ago,” including community and church members, “for a vision of hope that is still alive.”

The RACP is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
