HARRISBURG, Jan. 7 – State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara was sworn into the Pennsylvania House of Representatives today, beginning her fourth term serving the 165th Legislative District.
“I’m honored to once again represent my community in Harrisburg for another two years,” said O’Mara, D-Delaware. “Thanks to the support of my constituents, I’ve been able to deliver legislative reforms that truly benefit the people of Pennsylvania.
“In today’s world, it’s easy to focus on what separates us, but I am constantly reminded that there is so much more that unites us. We all want strong schools, safe neighborhoods, good jobs and a healthy environment. Whether it’s supporting our first responders, expanding access to quality affordable healthcare or uplifting working families, I remain committed to working alongside you and my colleagues in the legislature to build a brighter future for everyone in Delco.”
O’Mara said she is proud to have worked with her colleagues to enact several of her legislative initiatives. Last session, Gov. Josh Shapiro signed into law her measure changing the Workers’ Compensation law to cover Post-Traumatic Stress Injury for first responders. Additionally, her legislation to allow pharmacists to offer more vaccines to young children as well as her bill that requires transparency surrounding higher education fee transparency were both enacted into law.
O’Mara was also voted to serve as the House Democratic Southeast Delegation chair again this session, where she looks forward to continuing advocating for the entire Southeastern Pennsylvania region in that capacity.
The Pennsylvania General Assembly is currently in its 209th consecutive legislative session, which began today. The 2025-26 legislative session runs through Nov. 30, 2026.
The oath of office was administered by Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Debra Todd. The invocation was given by Bishop Maureen L. Davis, pastor of the Open Door Mission True Light Church in Philadelphia.
The 165th Legislative District includes Springfield and Upper Providence townships, parts of Marple Township, and the boroughs of Media, Morton and Swarthmore.
