O’Mara announces grant supporting local female police officers

MEDIA, Oct. 7 — State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara today announced a $120,000 grant to renovate Swarthmore Police Department headquarters, where work began at the end of last month.

Funds come from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and will go toward construction of a women’s locker room in the police station as well as a new bathroom dedicated to the officers.

“This grant will go toward creating a more inclusive and supportive work environment for Swarthmore’s law enforcement officers,” O’Mara said. “Providing dedicated and modern facilities, like a women’s locker room and new bathroom, ensure that every officer has the resources they need to serve our community with dignity and respect.”

“On behalf of the Swarthmore Borough Police Department, I want to express my sincerest gratitude to Representative Jenn O’Mara for her current and continuous support for the Swarthmore Borough Police Department. It is with her assistance we were able to move forward to complete a much-needed renovation for the borough police department’s locker room area,” Swarthmore PD Chief Raymond Stufflet said.
