MEDIA, Sept. 9 — In a significant boost for local law enforcement, state Rep. Jennifer O’Mara announced today the allocation of a $175,000 grant awarded to the Springfield Police Department.
Funding comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and will be used to purchase new police vehicles, enhancing the department’s ability to effectively serve and protect the community.
“Our police officers in Springfield are the backbone of our community's safety and security, working tirelessly every day to ensure that our neighborhoods are safe and secure,” said O’Mara. “It is essential that we provide them with the resources they need to carry out their duties efficiently and safely. This grant will enable the Springfield Police Department to upgrade their vehicle fleet to more reliable and modern models, a critical move in maintaining high standards of public safety.”
"We appreciate Representative O'Mara's assistance in securing the grant for Springfield Township Police Department’s purchase of three new patrol Tahoes. We look forward to the addition to our fleet!" Springfield Police Chief Jeff Shull said.

“I am proud to deliver these funds to Springfield, and I am dedicated to continuing my advocacy for our first responders and public safety initiatives,” O’Mara said. “Our government’s role in keeping our citizens safe extends beyond words—it requires concrete actions and investments, and this grant is a perfect example of that commitment in action.”
In addition to securing this funding, O’Mara has been actively engaged in advocating for the needs of first responders across the state, from advocating for PTSI coverage to expanding grant funding opportunities. Her efforts are founded in her dedication to ensuring that local law enforcement agencies have the support they need to operate effectively and continue to serve the public.
