Conklin: Centre Region Active Adult Center awarded nearly $12K for programs and services

STATE COLLEGE, May 17 – A popular area senior center will be receiving $11,654 in state funding for new programs and services, state Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Centre, announced today.

Conklin said the funding to the Centre Region Active Adult Center was awarded by the state Department of Aging under the 2022-23 Senior Community Center Grant program.

“Having a broad range of programs and services is key to keeping our area’s active seniors engaged and connected, and the center does a terrific job with plenty of classes and activities of all kinds,” Conklin said. “The funding awarded today will allow them to maintain and expand those programs to provide seniors an even better experience.”

The funding is part of a package of $2 million awarded to senior centers throughout the state for capital improvements and renovations, programs and services, nutrition and technology and other resources. Funding for the grants comes from the Pennsylvania Lottery.
