Merski takes oath to begin third term representing 2nd Legislative District

HARRISBURG, Jan. 3 – State Rep. Bob Merski, D-Erie, was sworn in today at the state Capitol to begin his third term representing the residents of the 2nd Legislative District.

Merski outlined some legislative priorities and his vision as he leads the Northwest Democratic Delegation.

“I’m excited about representing our district in the year ahead and optimistic about what we can accomplish in the new term,” Merski said. “I’m also looking forward to another year leading the Northwest Democratic Delegation as we work to build on our region’s unique strengths, including our expanding industrial base in the tech and advanced manufacturing fields.

“Beyond expanding access to funding, we’ll be working to ensure these industries have the long-term supports – including infrastructure and a well-trained workforce – they need to keep growing.

“I will also be working to help local small businesses; to improve benefits for retirees by making it easier for counties to issue cost-of-living increases; and to make sure our schools have the resources they need for our students and their families.

“Here at home, I’m looking forward to engaging in outreach across the new 2nd District, and helping residents with state-related issues. I encourage anyone needing assistance to contact my office at 814-455-6319 or visit my webpage at RepMerski.com.

Merski was elected to the House in 2018 and served his first term during the 2019-20 session.
Today’s swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of the 2023-24 legislative session of the Pennsylvania House, its 207th. Court of Common Pleas Judge John McNally administered the oath of office.
