Burns secures $100,000 state grant for Cambria Heights High School renovation project
Project will create multi-use area for school, community

EBENSBURG, April 9 – Following through in his commitment to help local schools and work to keep local taxes low, state Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, today announced he has helped secure a $100,000 state grant for a renovation project at Cambria Heights High School.
“When the school asked for help with the funding of this project, I left no stone unturned in my search,” Burns said. “Any time we can use state funding to offset local costs, that’s a win for the taxpayers, and another victory in making sure our county gets its fair share of state investment.”
The $100,000 state grant will be used by the Cambria Heights School District for its Community Center Project, which will renovate the high school’s former natatorium into a multi-purpose area for students and the community. The grant was funded by the state Department of Community and Economic Development.
The project includes installing a multi-purpose floor that can be used for activities such as basketball, volleyball, baseball/softball and a two-lane walking track. The room will also be used for banquets, dances and seminars, said Cambria Heights School District Superintendent Michael Strasser.
"We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Department of Community and Economic Development for the award of $100,000 to be used for our Cambria Heights School District Community Center Project,” Strasser said. “A special thank you goes out to state Representative Frank Burns and his office for all of their help coordinating with Cambria Heights and our grant writer Eric Nagel in securing this funding!"
Since taking office, Burns has helped secure more than $200 million in state grants, investments and financing for projects and programs large and small, part of his commitment to the people and communities he represents.
