GREENE TOWNSHIP, March 19 – Greene Township was awarded $50,000 in state grant funding to aid in creating a warming center and emergency management response unit, state Rep. Bob Merski, D-Erie, announced today.
The grant will provide critical resources to support residents during extreme weather conditions and emergencies, ensuring that vulnerable populations have access to safe shelter and essential services when they need them most.
“This funding is a lifeline for our community,” Merski said. “The warming center will offer a safe haven for residents during harsh winter conditions, while the emergency management response unit will enhance our ability to respond swiftly and effectively to crises. These initiatives reflect our commitment to protecting the health and safety of every individual in our district.”
Merski said the funding was administered through the Department of Community and Economic Development.
