Merski appointed to Pa. committee planning nation’s 250th birthday celebration

Will review, select “legacy” projects to welcome tourists

ERIE, April 5 – State Rep. Bob Merski, D-Erie, announced that he has been appointed to serve on the Infrastructure Improvements and Projects Committee of the America 250PA Commission.

As America prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday, the commission – officially known as the Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial – is working to highlight Pennsylvania’s key role in our nation’s founding.

“Pennsylvania played an essential role in our nation’s birth, and I’m honored to have been appointed by House Speaker Joanna McClinton to highlight our region’s contributions,” Merski said. “Our committee will be reviewing and selecting ‘legacy’ projects – infrastructure improvements and similar projects designed to welcome regional, national and international tourists.

“It’s an exciting assignment for what is going to be an amazing celebration.”
