McClinton hosts seminar to help citizens improve financial planning

PHILADELPHIA, April 6 – State Rep. Joanna McClinton, D-Phila./Delaware, hosted an event designed to provide constituents with tools and information they can use to make informative decisions about their finances.

Over 50 constituents attended the event held on Thursday, April 6 at Mercy Hospital of Philadelphia. Attendees learned about banking, budget management, savings, investing, credit repair, retirement and repaying student loans.

McClinton said financial literacy is crucial to help ensure people save enough to provide adequate income in retirement while avoiding high levels of debt that might result in bankruptcy and foreclosures.

“Any improvement in financial literacy will have a profound impact on our citizens and their ability to provide for their future while avoiding the pitfalls of debt,” McClinton said.

The agencies that provided advice to attendees are Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, Budget Me Budget Services, Clarifi, The Student Loan Doctor, The Ivy Investor, Transamerica Financial Advisors, Inc. and Bryan’s Retirement Blue Print.

McClinton said she wanted to thank Mercy Hospital of Philadelphia for their hospitality.
